Goals Accomplished
So, I got a little emotional yesterday at the end of closing (which wasn't all that bad, really). There I was, a person who thought that she'd never be married, and never own a house, standing outside the title company with her husband and keys to their new home. It feels like a miracle.
I think I mentioned that furniture shopping was proving to be more challenging than house shopping. On Sunday I determined we needed to have a goal. The goal, I decided, was new media shelving. I grew out of my CD cabinet long, long ago. Plus we have a bunch of DVDs, VHS tapes and now video games (Wii and DS). Goal accomplished within 10 minutes of entering the store. Further, I decided that I wanted the writer's desk I had seen last weekend at Weekends only. That took longer, simply because Weekends Only always takes a long time.
After closing, and breakfast, we decided to stop at Slumberland, a place we had heretofore not heard of until Tom found a flyer in Sunday's paper. I immediately found a loveseat and sofa. Interestingly, the loveseat and sofa are Ashley, and I had been through Ashley two or three times and NEVER found anything I liked. We also bought a wrought iron canopy bed frame and an area rug (which I believe will go in my office -- they had a deal if you buy a loveseat and sofa, rugs were half off). So, I need a dresser/mirror, a chest of drawers, two bed tables and living room tables, and an entertainment center, which, along with a couple of area rugs will mostly complete wave one of the furniture buying. Wave one meaning, now we can live here.
Of course, we've barely made a dent in the packing of the old place...
